IT Girls Foundation in Cumming, Georgia, receives Macy’s grant for STEM curriculum in elementary schools

CUMMING, GA – IT Girls Foundation—a nonprofit organization whose mission is to bring science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) awareness to 4th and 5th grade girls—received a $25,000 grant Macy’s, Inc. to support their foundation.

The Board of Directors at the IT Girls Foundation announced that they are the recipients of a grant that further supports its mission to help girls explore and develop their interests and talents in STEM. With this grant, the IT Girls Foundation will be able to develop deeper content and, potentially, expand the program into more schools within the Atlanta area.

“We are so grateful for Macy’s generosity in helping us fulfill our mission in serving these young female students. Our program has been blessed to operate for the past seven years and this type of investment by Macy’s will further enhance the participant’s experience,” said co-Founder and CEO of IT Girls Foundation Grant Shih.

“We are beyond thrilled to be partnering with Macy’s Technology to provide STEM content to girls at such an impressionable age,” said Roxanne Seymour, IT Girls Foundation president. According to the Census Bureau, women are half of the workforce, but only 27% have careers in STEM. “Our hope is to help bridge that gap and create a diverse, rich and talented workforce.”
